By connecting to your Facebook account to Fraud Blocker, we automatically blocks bots, accidental clicks and other harmful visitors that we detect in your Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns.

This help improves the quality of your ad traffic, thus avoiding wasted ad spend and boosting your performance.

Before you connect

Important: You must have each of the following before connecting.

  1. A Meta Business Account: You must have a Business Account; you cannot connect to Fraud Blocker without one (note: Business Accounts are now called "Business Portfolios").

  2. An "Ad Account" in your Meta Business Account: You must have an Ad Account assigned to the Business. You cannot use your ad account connected to your personal ad account. Please also make sure your permissions are set to "Full Control."

  3. A "Pixel" in your Meta Business Account: You must have created a Meta Pixel (note: Pixels are now called "Datasets"). Please also make sure your permissions are set to "Full Control."

Steps to connect to Fraud Blocker (after completing the steps above)

1) To begin, go to the "Set up" section of your Fraud Blocker dashboard. This is located here: https://app.fraudblocker.com/integrations/meta-ads-setup

2) Then select the "Sign In With Facebook" button and follow the steps to complete the process. Be sure to opt in to each of the permissions so we may exclude bots and harmful visitors from your ad campaigns in real-time.

3) Once you've signed in, select a Facebook "Pixel" (if you don't have this set up yet, please visit here).

4) Then select a Facebook "Ad Set(s)." We will add our Custom Audience to the exclusion list in the Ad Sets you select.

Important note: Once you select and "Ad Set" to applying our audience exclusion to, Facebook may put your ads back into review due to the change in the Ad Set targeting. Most ads are reviewed within 24 hours (and often much faster). Once live, your ads will not need to go back into review again. Learn more about Facebook's review process here.

After you connect

After connecting and selecting your Ad Sets, we will create a "Custom Audience" and automatically add that Custom Audience to the "audience exclusions" in the Ad Sets you selected.

The Custom Audience we created is made up of all the bots and harmful visitors we detected from your ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. Every visitor that arrives on your website from one of those sources is given a user ID in our database and monitored for fraudulent behavior based on their IP address and unique device fingerprint (see: How Fraud Blocker Works). Once a visitor is determined to be harmful, we add them to our Custom Audience in real-time to prevent your ad from appearing to them in the future.

You can view the Custom Audience we created by visiting the "Audiences" area in your Ads Manager here: https://adsmanager.facebook.com/adsmanager/audiences

You can view the Custom Audience was added to the audience exclusions in the "Ad Sets" of your ad campaigns by visiting here: https://adsmanager.facebook.com/adsmanager/manage/campaigns

Note: Ad Manager reports do not include the column for "Excluded Custom Audiences" by default. You will need to add this column by selecting Columns > Customize Columns > Targeting > Excluded Custom Audiences.

Reporting and blocking

You can view the bad visitors from your Facebook and Instagram campaigns by visiting the "Reports" or "Fraud Score" pages in Fraud Blocker.

Any IP address that says "Auto-Blocked" is automatically added to your Custom Audience in real-time so you do not need to manually block IPs or update your audience groups yourself.

By excluding all of these bad users in real-time, we expect you to see better traffic quality and visitors to your site.
