Important: We do not block IP addresses or charge for clicks that are used by Google's web crawlers, known as "Googlebot." However, changing your website "customizations" can override these settings.

Google uses dedicated IP addresses for their many of their web crawlers. These crawlers are essential for getting your website indexed, ranked, and generally found online.

Here's a brief summary of each of Google's web crawlers:

  • Google Adsbot: Assess the quality and relevance of the landing page your ad directs to. Important in determining your Quality Score

  • Googlebot-Image: Tailored for crawling images across the web.

  • Googlebot-Video: Specialized in indexing video content.

  • Googlebot-News: Focused on news content for Google News. The Googlebot News user agent is specifically used for indexing news content for Google News, utilizing the user agent string associated with Googlebot-News.

  • Googlebot-Mobile: Targets mobile-friendly content specifically.

  • Google AdsBot-Mobile Apps: Evaluates the quality of mobile app ads.

How does Fraud Blocker handle IP addresses from Googlebot?

Fraud Blocker does not block any IP address that is from Googlebot.

Google publishes the IP addresses they use for Googlebot and Fraud Blocker imports those IP addresses every 2 weeks to ensure we have their latest list. If any visitor or ad click to your website comes from a Googlebot we whitelabel that IP and prevent it from being blocked in your IP exclusions list.

We display an IP address from Google's web crawlers as "Googlebot" in your reports with the status as "Unblocked."

Note: These crawlers can also append URLs with click trackers that give the appearance of a click from an ad, but we identify them and do not charge your account for these clicks.
